Ugghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope Rachael Ray never finds out about this blog because this was hands down the worst recipe ever since starting this project. It's nights like these that I feel like maybe I should just stop wasting food and my money on this "adventure" I am doing. I was so excited about this one too. I have been looking forward too it, and I even tried to get some company over to share it with. So, to all of you that I called, thank goodness you were busy or didn't pick up your phones! Everything inside of me was screaming "It looks like vomit! Just throw it out and go get a pizzaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!" But did I listen? NO! I had to try and get fancy and show off, and then embarrass myself while the whole family gagged their way through dinner. What went wrong was the salad. The burgers were actually okay, if they weren't so dry, and if it hadn't taken me so long to do the pictures for tonight. I have had Arugula before, and I didn't like it. So I decided to do Spinach for the flank steak burgers, and watercress for the chicken. I have seen and heard about watercress, and it always looked so light and fresh on TV. Boy was I wrong. It was bitter and had all these thick sticks I had to get off. But we are not even getting to the most disgusting part. I made two different kinds of dressing for the two dishes. They both had Dijon and vinegar, but one salad had Parmesan cheese, and other had blue cheese. It didn't taste good to me at all. I couldn't even look at Justin's face while he tried to eat it. And the most disgusting part was the prosciutto I had to put in there. Prosciutto is raw ham, and I was told you weren't supposed to cook it, so I did a little of both, cooked and raw to see the difference. Either way it was just gross. Definitely one of those fad foods that everyone eats just to look cool but inside, they all know it's nasty. My personal opinion, I just don't have a fancy exotic food palate. So, I am not even going to bother finding the link for this, and I am crossing off all the recipes in the book that have prosciutto in them 'cause, I dunt' liget!

oh man that is funny. Poor Justin. Sorry it didn't turn out well. I vote for Pizza any night!
ReplyDeletetry pancetta...I think it is a lot better! Amy
ReplyDeleteI have not made the beef recipe, but the chicken sandwich recipe is one of my favorites! and Proscuitto is not gross, it is amazing and I will eat it plain. It's also fantastic fried up like bacon!
ReplyDeleteI made the chicken recipe sans the roll. I sliced the chicken and served it over the arugula as a salad. My Italian friend and I really enjoyed it. I don't think proscuitto is a fad. Isn't it a traditional Italian meat?
