I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day

There was this song that Motab did last Christmas. I just wanted to say how much I loved it. I saw it at the Stake Choir Program. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir was singing "I Heard the Bells On Christmas Day". And this man narrated throughout the song. I am assuming it was the story of the man who wrote the song. But I didn't realize how much history was in that song. You can probably find it on YouTube. With each verse there became more and more bells until the end of the last verse this legion of a bell choir, that you didn't even realize was there, is just going crazy. Hundreds of bells were sounding! And you look up and there were gigantic bells the size of cars ringing! The whole tabernacle was filled with the sound of Christmas Bells. I am getting emotional just writing this. These are the last two verses: "And in despair I bowed my head, There is no peace on Earth I said, for hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on Earth, good will to men." It's a story of finding peace through times of war when nobody believes in miracles and nobody believes in God. "Then pealed the bells more loud and deep, God is not dead, nor doth he sleep! The wrong shall fail, the right prevail! With peace on earth good will to men!"
So next time you sing that song, think of the meaning behind it, and really READ the words. Same for all hymns that we sing. Each song has a story and message behind it. And the spirit within each hymn is very strong.
