My favorite classical composer in all the world is Debussy. Full name was Achille-Claude Debussy. He was a french composer. He lived from 1862-1918. He started taking piano lessons when he was 7 years old, and he by the time he turned 10, the world new of his talent. He studied under Chopin's Aunt (some believe), and later he went to Russia to teach and ended up tutoring Tchaikovsky's children. He died of rectal cancer in 1918 soon after his only child was born. Sorry, no one wanted to know that. His music reflected what was going on in his disturbed personal life, which usually consisted of affairs with married women, and running away with young spring chickens! So many of his compositions had to do with romance. What I love about him so much is that his music is so different from other classical composers. He never stays in one time signature for long, and he never indicates when it's changed, you just need to feel it. He brought a whole new theme of music to Europe. He was one of the first to break away from the standard A-B-A form that music had had up til then. The music he wrote broke the laws of music. He had one daughter named Emma. Some of his famous pieces are Claire de Lune, La Fille aux Cheveux de Lin, The Little Negro, Minstrels, Golliwog's Cake-walk, Reverie, and my personal favorite piano piece of all.......Deux Arabesques. The picture above is him playing the piano among other composers. Below are videos of de Lune, and Deux Arabesques.
